Chris Baker
Director
As Director of Wetlands International Europe, I aim to raise the significance of wetlands in the region to ensure that biodiversity and livelihoods of wetland dependent communities are in balance with other wetland uses.
Since joining Wetlands International over a decade ago, I have been involved in leading programme development. Previously, I have led our river and delta restoration and the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programmes. I also led Wings over Wetlands and Wetlands Poverty Reduction, two other major programmes in our portfolio.
Before Wetlands International, I conducted research for the Wetlands Ecosystems Research Group in the Royal Holloway Institute for Environmental Research at University College London. I have a BSc in Geography from University College London and a PhD in wetland nitrogen dynamics and functioning from the University of Exeter.
