Call for Freshwater Short Films

Published on:

Have you made or are you making a short film that takes place in a stream, river, wetland or lake and promotes the importance of protecting or restoring freshwater biodiversity?

On World Water Day 2022, we invite you together with the Italian Centre for River Restoration to participate in the short film competition on the theme of freshwater that will be screened at the ONA Short Film Festival in Venice, Italy in September 2022.

Now in its third edition, the ONA Festival aims to share life-changing stories of outdoor sports, nature, and environmental awareness – themes that can have a vital impact on today’s society. This will be the first year of a Freshwater Award to be presented in Venice during the Festival, with the aim of drawing attention to key issues related to rivers, lakes and wetlands.

The competition is open to short films made after 2020, with an indicative maximum length of 10 minutes, which present in a creative way (beyond educational documentaries or video interviews) the need to protect freshwater biodiversity. The deadline for entries is the end of June.
