Nature Restoration Policy Assistant (Intern)
We are looking for a Nature Restoration Policy Assistant to support our different teams working on the European Nature Restoration Regulation.
Our activities for the Nature Restoration Law
Wetlands International works to influence the negotiations for a Nature Restoration Law, to secure the future of our vital wetlands. We are analysing legislative proposals, drafting positions, advocating decision-makers to adopt an ambitious legislation, organising or contributing to events on the topic, disseminating our activities and raising awareness on wetlands under the Nature Restoration Law. The intern would support the organisation’s work on this file.
Overall purpose of the job
The Nature Restoration Policy Assistant will support the different teams working on the European Nature Restoration Regulation. This could include the analysis of legislative proposals, supporting advocacy work, assisting with the organisation of events, disseminating our activities, and engaging with members of Wetlands International Europe and partners.
Roles and responsibilities
1. Analysis of legislative proposals
- Contributing to project planning and implementation
- Carrying out desk-based research
- Contributing to data collection and analysis
- Supporting in the elaboration of reports and policy briefings
2. Networking and mobilization of members and partners
- Organising and supporting meetings and webinars for our nand partners
3. Advocacy activities
- Participating in the organisation of events, webinars and meetings
- Supporting the dissemination of our activities, in cooperation with the communications team
Working relations
INSIDE Wetlands International: Working with the Wetlands International Europe team including colleagues from Wetlands International Global Office. Specially, the Nature Restoration Policy Assistant will be working closely with the Peatlands Policy Officer and Horizon Project Manager.
OUTSIDE Wetlands International: Partners, donors, members of Wetlands International Europe and other key stakeholders.
Profile
The candidate should have knowledge or experience relating to at least one of these fields:
- EU decision-making processes
- Nature conservation and restoration issues
- Agriculture/land-use related policies

Internship Offer
- Part time or full-time (full time =36 hrs/week).
- Reimbursement of a maximum of 424 EUR/month, based on 36-hour week.
The Intern will be asked to register hours and submit a monthly expense claim. - Contract duration: minimum of 6 months
- Location: Remote working but based in Belgium/The Netherlands. The Intern should be willing to work occasionally from the office and attend meetings in Brussels and/or Ede (NL).
