Szabolcs Nagy
Biodiversity Manager
I manage Wetlands International’s biodiversity work in Europe and represent the organisation at the EU concerning nature and biodiversity conservation issues. I also represent Wetlands International in the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) where I am a member of the AEWA Technical Committee since 2009. I coordinate the African-Waterbird Waterbird Census and the African-Waterbird Monitoring Partnership.
I have worked with Wetlands International in various positions since 2006. Before that I was the European Conservation Manager of BirdLife International from 1999 to 2006 and worked for the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society, the Hungarian BirdLife Partner, from 1991 to 1999. Before that I was a warden at the Közép Tisza Landscape Protection Area, a 130 km-long beautiful floodplain in the middle of Hungary, where I grew up. I studied agriculture, fisheries, forestry, wildlife management and nature conservation in Hungary.
