Power to the peatlands 2026
Following the success of the first edition in Belgium (2023), Power to the Peatlands returns for its second European conference. This year, we look back to the future: imagining tomorrow’s resilient peatlands while acting today to make them possible. Join us 2–4 September 2026 in ’s‑Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, for three days of knowledge exchange, collaboration and forward‑looking solutions.
About the conference
Power to the Peatlands 2026 connects science, policy, and practice through lectures, interactive workshops, and field visits. The conference will focus on applying both existing and new knowledge and research to daily practices in management, design, environmental management and policy implementation. It offers a unique opportunity for researchers, management officers, market participants and government representatives to share experiences and results, and engage in meaningful discussion.
Location and programme
The conference takes place at Congrescentrum 1931, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.
Across three days the programme will combine keynote sessions, thematic tracks, interactive workshops and networking opportunities. Field visits to nearby peatland restoration sites will give participants a direct look at practical challenges and solutions. Whether you are a researcher, policymaker, practitioner or innovator, the programme is designed to help you connect, contribute and take action.
Wetlands International Europe side event
As we won’t miss an opportunity to put our cherished wetlands on the spotlight, we are organising a side-event as part of the Power to the peatlands programme.
Along with our members and partners Natuurpunt, Natuurmonumenten, Eurosite and the Michael Succow Foundation, we will look on ways to really engage peatland restoration and how this can be beneficial for businesses and landowners.
