Dam Removal Europe goes Alps

Home » Events » Rivers and Lakes » Natural infrastructure solutions » Dam Removal Europe goes Alps
Event Date: 14/05/2020 - 16/05/2020
Venue: Utting am Ammersee, Germany

This event has been postponed due to COVID-19. The new date will be 6-8 May 2021.

On 14-16 May 2020, the Dam Removal Europe partners invite everybody interested in free-flowing rivers to a seminar in southern Germany. International experts will share their experience and knowledge of the ecological, economic and social benefits of dam removal. Dam removal is an effective measure to restore rivers to their natural, free-flowing state.

During the conference, participants will learn from experiences from all over Europe, discuss the ecological, economic and social benefits of dam removal, show the restoration potential in (pre-)alpine regions and outline the necessary framework conditions for dam removal. Mutual exchange and networking between relevant actors will be promoted – from practitioners from authorities, planning offices, nature conservation and science to recreational users, tourism experts and politicians.

For information, registration and details about the programme, visit the Dam Removal Europe website.

The conference will also be the European Headquarters of the World Fish Migration Day on 16 May 2020. Join this public event aiming to “Connect fish, rivers and people”!

Wetlands International Europe is partner of Dam Removal Europe. We advocate for the restoration of river continuity as a conservation priority for European freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity. We look forward to seeing you in Utting am Ammersee!
