For the 2026 EU Green Week and Amazon Week, we organise the partner event entitled “Investing in nature: mobilising private sector engagement to deliver global commitments”.

Wetlands are essential for climate resilience, biodiversity, water security, and economic resilience and competitiveness. They support livelihoods, reduce disaster risks, secure water resources for key sectors, and contribute to long-term resilience and stability. Yet despite their recognised value, wetlands continue to be degraded globally, undermining progress towards international environmental, climate, and development commitments. Wetlands should not only be recognised as environmental assets, but also as strategic components of resilient water systems, economic stability, and long-term competitiveness.

Increasingly, financial institutions, companies, and investors are recognising wetlands as strategic assets for managing risks, strengthening supply chains, supporting water resilience, and creating long-term value. However, investment and implementation remain fragmented and limited, insufficiently scalable, and disconnected from long-term deployment pathways

Organised in the framework of EU Green Week and Amazon Week, this high-level, invitation-only event aims to move from commitments to action by focusing on practical pathways to strengthen cooperation, mobilise finance, and accelerate implementation and scalable deployment.

Particular attention will be given to the role of partnerships in supporting and scaling implementation efforts under global initiatives such as the Freshwater Challenge, the Mangrove Breakthrough, and Peatland Breakthrough, helping mobilise investment and accelerate action on the ground, including in interconnected ecosystems such as the Pantanal.

This aims to be an interactive and action-oriented exchange among representatives from EU institutions, Member States, partner countries, financial institutions, private sector actors, NGOs, and implementation partners.

Upon invitation only
