For the Raw Material Weel we have organised a joint event in Brussels together with EU-LAT Advocacy Network, Broederlijk Delen vzw, Justice & Paix and FARN

This panel will explore the social and ecological challenges of the energy transition through the lens of critical mineral extraction in the High Andean Wetlands — vital ecosystems for biodiversity, climate regulation, and local livelihoods. It will discuss the shortcomings in implementing Environmental Impact Assessments, Free, Prior and Informed Consent, and “no-go zones,” highlighting governance gaps in Latin America and regulatory rollbacks in Europe. 

Through an interdisciplinary dialogue, the session will call for reducing material demand and aligning decarbonization efforts with human rights and environmental standards to advance a truly just and sustainable transition.
