Martina Kurten
Policy and Project Officer, International Partnerships
As part of my work at Wetlands International Europe I am supporting external policy activities, with a particular emphasis on the programming phase of the EU External Financial Instrument, Global Europe, in order to increase the role of wetlands in EU cooperation plans. Additionally, I support fundraising activities for the Global Office, in order to mobilize both financial and non-financial resources, contributing to the diversification and strengthening of the organization’s funding relationships.
I studied Biology in Venezuela, with a focus on Water Ecology. Afterwards, I worked for several years in a consumer goods company where I developed my experience in research and expanded it to project management and communications. I have always felt passionate about advocating for nature protection and for equality and justice. I recently completed a Master’s in International Migration with a specialization in International Development. I am especially interested in the intersection between climate change and migration.
