To kick-off the new year, we are releasing a podcast! Starting with a question at the heart of the energy transition: What does lithium extraction for a European demand imply for local communities in the High Andes wetlands?
“Our lithium, their wetlands”. Take a listen as we spoke with Lea Appulo, our Global Europe Programme manager, about lithium extraction in the High Andes wetlands. These salt flats and wetlands are part of a delicate water system. Local communities from the High Andes depend on them for their daily lives and now have to deal with the human impacts that lithium extraction for powering European batteries has on their lands.
