Thirty-four Italian NGOs, including Wetlands International Europe member CIRF, have sent a letter to the EU Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni, calling on him and all other Commissioners who will meet on 22 June, to support the European Nature Package by publishing their much awaited proposal for a Nature Restoration law.

The publication of the proposals, which will include legally binding EU nature restoration targets, was delayed from March to 22 June due to push back from industry and the war in Ukraine. The signatories of the letter conclude by saying the EU’s future, the trust of citizens towards the EU project and the credibility of its leaders depend also on this crucial moment.
