On 21 September 2023, Wetlands International Europe had the great pleasure to meet with a delegation of the Sociedad Civil en Red, a coalition of 6 networks of social organizations in Argentina, which is a project co-financed by the European Union. The objective of the project is to improve the participation of Civil Society in the processes of definition and implementation of public policies that affect it, through the incidence generated in multi-actor articulation spaces.

The delegation traveled to Brussels with the aim of establishing links and learning in depth about the work carried out by networks and European civil society, seeking to exchange ideas, good
practices and generate alliances and relationships with different fellow institutions of the
European Union.

Wetlands International Europe closely works with our network office in Argentina, Fundación Humedales, which also acts as Regional Office for Latin America and Caribean and is member of one of the network in the delegation, Red Argentina de Cooperación Internacional (RACI).

During the meeting, we could exchange on some of the policy priorities of our Global Europe for wetlands programme and inform them on the way we collaborate with our colleagues in Latin America and how we bring back to EU level best practices, evidence based cases developed by our local office to influence EU programmes and plans for Latin America.

We shared the latest key legislative proposals under negotiations that might have an impact in Argentina. Our take away message is that stregthening collaboration between EU and LAC CSOs is needed to join forces in the processes of definition and implementation of EU/LAC public policies.
