The voting has opened for the 2022 European Dam Removal Award. Five nominees from different corners of Europe have made the shortlist.
The award aims to celebrate the work individual, organisations and communities are doing to remove barriers and restore free-flowing rivers. The public vote, introduced this year as part of the award, will form 50% of the overall score. The jury vote will make up the other 50% of the final score.
The five nominees selected by the jury are:
- Restoration of Salantas river continuity, Lithuania
- Ackers Weir Removal, River Cole, UK
- Removal of the weirs of the Molino Bajo and Molino del Cabrillas in the Cabrillas river, Spain
- Snake Lane Weir removal project, UK
- Bowston Weir removal project, UK
The public vote is open from April 3 – April 17 (23:59 CET).
