Today, on the 22nd of March 2024, as we are celebrating UN World Water Day, it’s crucial to reflect on the critical role water plays in our lives and ecosystems. This year’s theme, “Leveraging water for Peace” highlights the interconnectedness of water and peace-building efforts worldwide.
Chris Baker, the Director of Wetlands International Europe reflects on the need to safeguard and restore healthy wetlands, and prevent water-related disasters. We can create water resilience in the face of increasing floods and droughts by prioritising the restoration of our wetlands, promoting sustainable water management practices, and enhancing cross-border cooperation to address more effectively address our pressing water challenges.
